Miss Walking Street 2010

Miss Walking Street 2010 poster

February is going to be a month full of events from Bangkok to the Issan region and with Valentines day and Chinese New Year in the mix there will be a little something for everyone’s tastes.

One such event that you might want to mark your calenders for is the 1st annual Miss Walking Street pageant in Pattaya.  The event will be held by the Utopia Lounge in Soho Square on February 14th at 8pm and will feature over 40 contestants from many of  Walking Streets best bars and go go’s. You might be thinking that this sounds a little redundant because every night is a beauty pageant on Walking street, while this may be true this is a special beauty pageant for a great cause.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the PDA Aids Awareness and Prevention project, and a charity auction will be held at the end of the night, to auction off prizes donated by local sponsors, including a weeks vacation on Phuket and a stay in a luxury villa in Pattaya. The auction will be professionally run by local auctioneer John Collingbourne, in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

As well as the many beautiful women vying for your attention there will also be live music provided by the Utopia Lounge house band, fire eaters, jugglers and all manner of street performers for your enjoyment.  The pageant starts at 8pm and will have 3 rounds so expect this one to run late.

I’m not sure Valentines day was the best choice of days to hold the pageant on but I hope it works out well for them because it really is for an excellent cause. If you are in Pattaya on Valentines day try and make it out to the Miss Walking Street Pageant, it’s sure to be a good time and it’s definitely for a good cause.

For more information on upcoming Thailand events in February please check out the Events Calender.

  1. It is a shame that there is no mister adorable Farang competition. Otherwise, I might nominate Khun Talen for the contest!

  2. Wouldn’t that be the “Sexy Man” competition ??

  3. Talen this pageant is going to pull in the punters. If the prettiest girls in Pattaya enter then the judges are going to have a very ‘stiff’ and difficult choice to make regards the winner. Some of those bar girls and go go girls are absolutely knockout. If I was in Pattaya I’d be heading out to see this and probably drooling all the way back home.

  4. Martyn, Agreed. I would definitely not be missing this event if I were in town, but being that it’s on valentines day the missus might have a few choice words for me otherwise.

  5. You should see me in full makeup…and sadly yes there is a picture out there somewhere after I let a certain Thai girl have at my face on a rainy day.

  7. Talen I’m lucky there because Wilai would be quite content to tag along and watch the event. She’s a straight girl but she is one to point out if a lady is attractive or not. I kind of like that quality in her as she’s not the jealous sort unlike so many Thai women I’ve met over the years. I’m sure Pookie would be happy to tag along with you too.

  8. Martyn, you’re probably right…she does love to watch other girls dancing and usually points out the pretty ones to me. But being that the pageant is on Valentines day she might want a little more attention on her.

  9. Sure hope there’s a 2011 Miss Walking Street, because I’ll be there for that one. Martyn and Talen, we can all meet to practise our Buakhao Mao ability.

If the event actually attracts the beauties on WS, it might be too much for my heart, though.

And Talen, what a great calendar! That’s a lot of work.

  10. I hope there is too Rick I would love to see it, heart be damned.

Seems they aren’t promoting it too well though. I’ve heard that word has been out around town but a lot of guys weren’t sure where it was being held until they found this post.

Hopefully the calender will help out with that kinda thing but it’s been a bitch getting organizers to email me back with event info for some events.

For regular news media, this is the hardest obstacle in maintaining an events calendar or feature (I know this). It’s amazing how even major event organizers can’t appreciate the free publicity for barely lifting a finger.

I’m sorry to say that if anything will be the downfall of your service, it will be non-responsiveness of organizers.

    Best of luck!

  12. Rick, even without the organizers help I can at least find out enough info as to the where and when but it would be much nicer to have the whole deal so people can know really know the whole scoop.

  13. It is a good thing for them that you are advertising this event.

I thought I knew Walking Street fairly well but I had never heard of either the Utopia Lounge or Soho Square.

I found out they are in the armpit of Walking Street – and that is really saying something.

During my carousing I normally do not go beyond Tony’s Disco or the FLB Bar. Past that point you really need to speak a foreign language – and I don’t mean Thai !

These are some links to maps to their location in case anyone is curious.

  14. Chuck, yeah the Soho Square area is relatively new…I remember when they were still building the shopping arcade in 2007.

I don’t think most people venture much past the Rolling Stone bar on walking street…I know I usually don’t. Matter of fact the last time I was up that way was in 2007 when they were building it.
